RIDER FIT
Steady-state riders thrive on long flat-ish gravel
Coastal sections reward aero riders
Royal forest + fjord = classic Danish gravel adventure
Mostly fast surfaces
No real mountains here
Too long for crit instincts
152 km isn't extreme by international standards but is one of the longer Danish single-day events. Pace conservatively — there's no aid-station safety net like at US events.
TIRE INTEL
Hornsherred is mostly fast forest gravel + farm roads. A faster tire wins time here unless the coastal sections are sandy. Tubeless recommended for puncture protection.
WEATHER PLAYBOOK
Mid-August Zealand: 16-22°C typical, generally dry, possible afternoon showers. Wind off the fjord can be 25-40 km/h. Pack a light shell + arm warmers.
PACING PLAYBOOK
Settle in with a group. Forest section is fast — find a wheel.
Beautiful but technical in places. Stay focused, don't crash on roots.
Open exposure to wind. Group up if possible. Eat heavily.
Final stretch through farmland. Push if you have it.
WHAT TO FEAR
- [!01]Sand drifts on the coastal section causing flats
- [!02]Roskilde Fjord wind on the open western leg
- [!03]Roots in the royal forest singletrack
- [!04]Bonking on the longer loop — resupply is sparse
