RIDER FIT
Forest singletrack rewards bike-handling
Short distance + tight course suits punchy riders
Some climbing but no real mountains
Too short for ultra-endurance specialists
This is racing, not touring
Wrong format entirely
A pure gravel bike with file-tread tires won't cut it here — Bidstrupskovene's root-laden forest tracks reward bike-handling. Course is technical enough to separate skill from pure power.
TIRE INTEL
Bidstrupskovene mixes hardpack forest road with rooty singletrack. Tire grip on roots when slightly damp matters more than rolling speed. Tubeless mandatory.
WEATHER PLAYBOOK
Mid-September Zealand: 10-18°C, mixed sun and showers, low wind in the forest. Pack arm warmers + light shell — Danish autumn weather changes by the hour.
PACING PLAYBOOK
Sit in. Front group will spike — let it. Settle into your power.
Where the field shatters. Pick clean lines, save energy on rooty descents.
Save matches for the finish. Course loops back through familiar terrain.
WHAT TO FEAR
- [!01]Wet roots in the singletrack sections
- [!02]Underestimating the pace at the front
- [!03]Mechanical bad luck on rooty descents
- [!04]September rain making the forest tracks slick
